Barrett Creative on Inaugural Direct Air Lakeland Flight to Myrtle Beach.

Direct Air Lakeland
by Michael G. Barrett

I’m not sure how excited you were to hear Lakeland was finally getting an airline service but I was ecstatic! I love to travel and through the various projects we do at Barrett Creative, traveling is often a frequent thing. The thought that those travels could start literally across the street is pretty cool.

On June 23rd my wife, Ashley, and I will be on the inaugural Direct Air Lakeland to Myrtle Beach flight. We’re flying to visit my friend and editor Jono Olive and his family. Jono has edited all the Trash Mountain Project documentaries we’ve produced as well as many other projects including The Pizza Connection short film. Jono’s dad is President of the Carolina Opry so we’ll certainly make a stop there, eat great food, and otherwise play it by ear until Direct Air brings us back to Lakeland Linder Airport on Sunday evening.

Being part of the inaugural Direct Air Lakeland flight is pretty neat but it also shows the part we love to play in the local community. I’ll bring a video camera and document what I hope will be a start for more airlines to stop and take notice of the great location and airport we have in Lakeland.

Video Production | Is This The End?

At Barrett Creative, we work with a variety of clients who simply want to tell a story.

We work with lifepoint.tv, a church in Tampa, Florida who’s desire to impact the lives of their congregation is impressive. Their current series is entitled, “Is This The End?” With the current events, that’s a great question to ask. The earthquakes and tsunami’s in Japan, the radiation outbreak that will eventually affect the entire world, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Libya present us with an unparalleled time in history.

A team of three went to Ybor City in Tampa to ask questions to random people about their views of the end of the world. Shooting with the high definition Canon 5D Mark ii, this video production project excelled in the low lights of the small city. The clip above will show just a sample of the answers we received about the judgement day.

Lakeland Web Design with Integrity

It’s only Tuesday but we’ve had several meetings this week with new clients who have a really bad experience with past web developers. It always amazes me that the process of creating a website has been such a miserable journey for quite a few people. Believe me though, I completely understand. We’ve worked with several local web developers who talk one heck of a game but simply don’t deliver a solid product. You never know for certain if you can’t read code. It looks like a good site, functions for the most part but underneath the hood, your “new car” has an engine from the junk yard.

Trust me, I’ve been in the “bad experience” camp as well and we developed a mission to make sure our clients have a seamless journey. Building your dream website should be one of the most rewarding and fun experiences of your business. A new website gives you the opportunity to connect, generate commerce, and show off your work to a whole new audience. The possibilities are endless and at Barrett Creative, we will never just build a site and push it out the door. We feel we’re part of your company. We have a vested interest in the success of your web site.

Since 2001, we’ve not spent $1 in advertising. The best salespeople for us have been our clients who are raving fans. We do three things and three things really well. We’re leading the way in video production, graphic design and web design. The reason top level companies choose Barrett Creative is the creative advantage of coming to one company who can keep your look, image identity and message consistent across multiple mediums. We understand the power of video embedded in your website. We understand the social and search engine advantage video can bring. We leverage every advantage for our clients so their site looks great and performs to the top level.

A Barrett Creative, we are a full service Lakeland web design company but rest assured, we are so much more than that. We create a fun and memorable experience for you through every step of the way. We take the process seriously, meet deadlines and deliver results.

Call Barrett Creative today at 863-648-2725 and discover a better way to the web.

Video Production | Vision Video shoot for Easy Homes 123 of Lakeland, FL

We just finished the principle shooting yesterday with Steve Mitchell from Easy Homes 123. Steve wanted to create a video for his website that explained the vision of his company and conveyed how his company offers many different financing options to help those with less than stellar credit achieve the dream of home ownership.

For the high definition video production shoot, we wrote a script based on an interview with Steve and shot the segment in a house they bought and remodeled. Other shooting locations were at several homes the Easy Homes team have fixed up as well as the office of a Lakeland realtor.

At Barrett Creative, we shot everything on the Canon 5D Mark ii, recorded audio with the Marantz CF audio recorder, an Arri 5 light fresnel kit, RedRock Micro Cinema rig and teleprompter.

Video Production | Interview with Patrick Lencioni

On August 20th, Barrett Creative was in Lafayette, California (just north of San Francisco) to shoot a segment with Patrick Lencioni for the upcoming National Leadership Forum Webcast.

Pat has been a speaker at 3 of the last 4 Leadership Forums and has become a raving fan of the conference. The segment we shot with Pat was for the welcome to the Webcast attendees on the second day of the webcast.

Barrett Creative shot the high definition video production segment on the Canon 5D Mark ii camera, recorded the audio using a shotgun microphone and captured in ProTools and used 300 watt softboxes for the lighting.

Below is a still frame from Pat’s segment:

Video Production | Interview with Pastor Tommy Barnett & Dr. James L. Davis

On August 19th, Barrett Creative was in Los Angeles, California to shoot an interview with Pastor Tommy Barnett and Dr. James L. Davis for the upcoming National Leadership Forum Webcast. We shot in the War Room at the Los Angeles Dream Center.

This was our first time doing a 2 camera shoot with the Canon 5D Mark ii and turned out fantastic.

The interview was a recap of Pastor Tommy’s interview with President George W. Bush at the Leadership Forum on March 10, 2010. The 20 minute interview will be played on Day 2 of the Forum Webcast.

After being in Los Angeles for just a few hours, we headed north to San Francisco to interview Patrick Lencioni, the New York Times best-selling author of 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.

For the high definition dslr video production shoot we used an Arri 650/300 lighting kit, audio was recorded on shotgun microphones and recorded using ProTools. For Pastor Tommy’s other segments for the webcast, Barrett Creative provided a teleprompter.

Shooting with the Canon 5D Mark II

Industry experts are quoted as saying:

“The 5D produces the best video in low light that I’ve ever seen – at 1080p.”

“You no longer need half-million dollar’s worth of high definition video cameras and lenses delivered by a truck with its own driver to shoot a high definition film in low light – you just need a 5D Mark ii and a few lenses”

“Everyone has been waiting for the video camera that can also take stills… here’s a still camera that can shoot stunning video.”

A top commercial film editor with expertise in the $20k RED camera says, “The 5D MKII is far superior to the RED camera in terms of low light performance…”

Barrett Creative purchased one of the first Canon 5D Mark ii cameras released and let’s just say we’ve been more than impressed. The film like quality we’re able to get while saving our clients thousands of dollars in expensive rental fees have been amazing. It’s always fun to sit with a client at the screening and look at their face when the first image comes up. They can’t believe it.

We’ve traveled across America and even Honduras and Cambodia shooting with this amazing camera. It simply allows us to tell a story with the same quality that’s been exclusive to Hollywood. We’re also able to deliver high quality still images to our clients for use in print materials. This gives a tremendous advantage when it comes to consistency.
